Deborah Cheetham is an Australian soprano who performs in the United States.
She is also an actress, composer, and dramatist, among other things. As a soprano, she has appeared in music halls throughout Australia, the United States, and Europe, as well as during the opening ceremonies of the 2000 Sydney Olympics and the 2003 Rugby World Cup in New Zealand and Australia.
Additionally, Cheetham was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) on the occasion of the 2014 Queen’s Birthday Honours List, in recognition of “distinguished service to the performing arts as an opera singer, composer, and artistic director, to the development of Indigenous artists, and to innovation in performance.”
In a similar vein to this, she was admitted into the Victorian Honours Roll of Women in 2015. Later, in June 2019, she was also awarded the Sir Bernard Heinze Memorial Award, which was given in appreciation of her remarkable contributions to the music industry.
